Our Programs – Extended Care & Summer Program

As part of our partnership with school families, Children of Peace provides an extended day program available to all enrolled students. The morning and afternoon programs are designed to keep your students safe and engaged in positive activities as they prepare to begin or transition from their school day.

Morning and afternoon care is provided in the lounge and gym of Building B, where the children are supervised by members of the school faculty and staff. In the morning, students have opportunities to eat breakfast (not provided by the school) play in the gym and finish up homework.

In the afternoon, students begin their aftercare with a snack and then rotate among playing in the gym or outside, participating in different activities including but not limited to: art, book club, iPad/laptops, or working on homework. We also offer other outside programs for an addition fee.

Program Hours:

  • Extended Day morning care is from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
  • Aftercare runs from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on full school days. There is no extended care of half days.
  • Extended day is only in operation on regular school days. There is no extended care of half days.
  • A weather emergency or other emergency which causes school to be canceled will also result in the canceling of the Extended Day Program.

Summer Program

Each year Children of Peace offers a six-week summer school program for students’ in grades Pre-K (3 years old) through 8. This program is also open to students who are not currently enrolled in our school.

The program is divided into two sessions: a morning session from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and an afternoon session from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Instruction for both sessions is kept to a small teacher/student ratio. Therefore, enrollment is limited.

The morning program is structured to provide remedial instruction for students who need continued reinforcement of skills in the areas of reading, writing and math.

The afternoon program is structured to provide extra-curricular and recreational activities for families needing extended day hours. Students will be able to participate in many activities including but not limited to: arts and crafts, computers and free play time. Students participating in the afternoon session are required to bring a bag lunch.

Dates, fees and registration materials for the 2016 summer program will be available in April 2016.
